Unlike traditional roguelites where you collect items and weapons, Skul's unique skull-swapping system lets you completely change your character's abilities and playstyle on the fly. With over 100 different skulls to discover, each with its own unique abilities, you can create countless combinations and strategies. Plus, the game features a compelling story where you play as the antagonist fighting against traditional hero archetypes.

You can equip up to two different skulls at a time and switch between them during combat. Each skull has its own unique attacks, abilities, and playstyle. Skulls come in different rarities (Common, Rare, Unique, Legendary) with higher rarity skulls having more powerful abilities. You can enhance skulls by finding duplicate copies during your run, making them even stronger.

While Skul can be challenging, it features a smooth difficulty curve that helps new players learn the mechanics. The early chapters are designed to teach you the basics, and you can permanently upgrade your character between runs. Additionally, some skull combinations are more beginner-friendly than others, allowing you to find a playstyle that suits you.

A single successful run through the game typically takes 40-60 minutes. However, as a roguelite, you're expected to do multiple runs, each one helping you grow stronger and discover new content. Most players spend 20-30 hours to reach their first completion, with many continuing to play for 100+ hours to discover all skulls and master different strategies.
